This article discusses the nature, the limits and the possibilities of this extraordinary appeal, introduced in the Constitution of 1988 (§ 1 of art. 102), which, along with others, composes the system of judicial remedies, at the Federal Supreme Court (STF), for concentrated control of constitutionality, specifically aimed at avoiding or repairing a violation of a fundamental doctrine resulting from an act of the government.
